Wake up this morning with your clocks out of sync? No, it wasn’t a dream through the cosmic space-time continuum warp and it wasn’t that you missed Daylight Saving Time — you didn’t. It is still a month out yet. It was a power outage.
More than one of them, actually. And pretty big ones too, with reports coming in of brief outages around Carson City, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Douglas County. The Carson Valley Times reports 15,345 customers were without power Saturday at 11:45 p.m.
Carson Now reader Eric Reimann sent us this smart phone photo at 2:34 a.m. showing 11,366 customers were without power.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies on patrol report lights flickering on and off through downtown Carson City at around midnight.
NV Energy spokeswoman, Faye Andersen, says the outages were likely weather-related. A transmission line went out at a substation that caused the outages. Some lasted for 9 minutes, others, such as those at Lake Tahoe, lasted for more than three hours, she said. As of around 7 this morning, there were still around 78 customers without power in the Reno area.
As a reminder, Daylight Saving Time is Nov. 2 this year, where clocks are turned back an hour.
