Enjoy the warm weather and sunshine for the next few days because the ground will likely get a good and much-needed spring soaking into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunny and mild weather will continue through Thursday, with valley highs in the 60s and 70s. The warmest day will be Thursday, with upper 70s to low 80s for the valleys of western Nevada.
The weather turns cooler and wetter for Friday and Saturday, with valley highs falling into the 50s to mid 60s. Scattered rain and high elevation snow showers are expected Friday and into the weekend with some impact to the higher elevation passes possible, especially during the overnight hours.
The showers will continue into Sunday and then lighten some as the low slowly pulls away. Early next week, models diverge showing a bit of a break in precipitation with a slight chance of isolated showers at best. Daytime highs around Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will be around 60.
With the upper lows moving through, the weather service doesn’t expect much in the way of wind as the best flow remains well to the south. Temperatures will also cool to near average for daytime highs, but remain above average at night due to the increased cloud cover and moisture, according to the weather service.
