In Douglas County, State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade is closed until May 23. The alternative route is Highway 50 over Spooner Summit.
Traffic traveling from the Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe and Lake Tahoe to Carson Valley that would normally use Kingsbury Grade will need to use the Highway 50 detour. Residents and businesses will be able to access their homes and places of business by detouring via Highway 50. Both emergency and public transportation vehicles, including hotel (both valley and lake side) shuttles, will always have access and will not be required to use a detour.
Construction will resume during the summer months beginning Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, Aug. 29, with Kingsbury Grade open to through traffic, but nighttime construction-related lane closures and delays to be expected, according to NDOT. The road will be open with one lane in each direction during daytime hours, weekends and all holidays through these summer months.
