Labor Day weekend is almost upon us, signaling the unofficial end of summer. It’s still nice outside, so enjoy an easy hike up Lakeview's Hobart Road with Muscle Powered. WNC students are treated to a back-to-school BBQ with a bounce house and rock climbing wall. Kids won’t want to miss Lego Club at the Carson City Library this afternoon. Guitarist Dave Leather entertains at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint. Head to Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar or Living the Good Life for karaoke.

THURSDAY:

  • Muscle Powered Easy Hike: Hobart Road - Meet at the west end of Hobart Rd. (8am-9:30am; Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the hike meeting site. All walks require closed-toed shoes and water. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks, are recommended.)
  • Justin Favela’s art exhibit ‘Mi Casa es Mi Casa’ in the OXS Gallery at the Nevada Arts Council: 716 N. Carson St. (8am-5pm)
  • High School Pic[ks] 1, group show of art by area high school in the Community Development building [formerly the BRIC]: 108 E Proctor St (8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm)
  • “.001%” by photographer Matt Theilen in the Western Nevada College Main Gallery in the Bristlecone Building (8am-9pm)
  • Art Exhibit ‘New Crop 2016’ at the CCAI Gallery in the Courthouse: 885 E. Musser (8am-5pm)
  • Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring Vilma Weneck and Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
  • Photography and Regular Show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery in the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)
  • Back to School at Western Nevada College (10am-3pm barbecue lunch, bounce house fun, club recruitment and rock wall climbing in front of Joe Dini Building)
  • Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Sierra Chapter 403 Luncheon and Chat–Young Eagles fundraiser at 2500 E. College Pkwy (11am-3pm, all welcome; $6 -Hamburgers and Hot Dogs with all the fixings, Chili, Baked Beans, BBQ chips, Potato Salad, Choice of Desserts and Coffee)
  • Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off at Victorian Square, Sparks (11am-9pm)
  • Family Storytime in the Carson City Library Digitorium (11:15am-11:45am; get ticket in the auditorium)
  • All you can eat Wings at Firkin and Fox (all day; $12.95)
  • Dayton Farmers Market at Community Roots: 60 2nd Ave, Dayton (3pm-6pm)
  • Tap Handle Thursday at Red’s Old 395 (3pm-6pm; half off draft beers by the glass)
  • Lego Club in the Carson City Library Teen Portal (4pm-6pm; under 9 yrs old must be accompanied by someone 13+)
  • CCAI Exhibit: Silver State Swimmer, solo exhibition by Michael Malley in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center (available during public meetings and most evenings 5pm-8pm)
