After a chance of showers late Friday night, it looks like Saturday will be a breezy first day of fishing season for much the Sierra and western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday is the first day of California stream, river and lake fishing. River and lake levels are way up, comparatively, to last year. For those who are planning on boating on area lakes this Saturday, expect below average temperatures and gusty winds that will increase lake chop enough to be hazardous for small craft, according to the weather service.
A cold front will move through the region Friday night and is expected to bring wind, cooler temperatures and showers back to the area. Showers should reach far northern areas and then quickly spread southward into the I-80 and Highway 50 corridors Friday night.
Though breezy Saturday, there will be sunshine with only a few scattered rain showers possible.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, Friday will be mostly sunny with a high in the mid 60s. Friday night will bring breezy conditions and a chance of scattered rain or snow showers. Saturday will again be breezy, with a 20 percent chance of isolated rain showers and a high of 58. Sunday will be mostly sunny and a high of 68 and Monday, a high in the low 70s with a slight chance of showers.
If you're headed into Alpine County to fish on the Carson River or area lakes, Friday night will be windy with a 50 percent chance of showers, while on Saturday it will be breezy but only about a 30 percent chance of showers.
In Mono County around Bridgeport, Friday night will bring blustery conditions with a chance of rain and scattered snow showers. Saturday brings a 30 percent chance of snow showers and breezy conditions. Saturday's high will be around 44. Sunday will bring a slight chance of thunderstorms with a high of 54.
