The Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau was awarded $14,000 in grants last week from the Nevada Commission on Tourism for three different marketing efforts, providing support for the destination’s Divine Nine Golf Co-operative, its own website and video production and advertising materials for the Virginia & Truckee Railway.
The CCCVB will allocate $3,000 to the Divine Nine for advertising to increase visibility of Carson City / Carson Valley’s nine popular golf courses: Carson Valley, Dayton Valley, Eagle Valley East and Eagle Valley West, Empire Ranch, Genoa Lakes and Genoa Resort, Silver Oak and Sunridge.
The CCCVB will use $5,000 toward video production and website updates, contributing to the promotion of Carson City as a regional destination featuring year-round events, entertainment, dining and lodging options.
The Virginia & Truckee Railroad campaign will receive $6,000 for advertising and collateral to be utilized in 2011. The historic Comstock-era railroad attracts visitors to the area to ride its 16 miles of track between Carson City and Virginia City.
“We look forward to utilizing the NCOT funding to further promote the area’s attractions to our visitors,” said Candy Duncan, CCCVB’s executive director. “Tourism is a staple of the Carson City economy, so we’ll put these dollars to work generating lodging occupancy and guests for local attractions and amenities.”
