Widespread thunderstorms are expected throughout the Sierra and western Nevada today. The biggest impact will be locally heavy rain with possible street ponding and flooding.
The best chances for strong thunderstorms will be in and along the Sierra. There's an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas today, and 40 percent tonight with a chance for thunderstorms throughout the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
