The next low pressure system will move into the region from California on Sunday bringing showers and high elevation snow to the Sierra and western Nevada through at least Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Up to 6 inches of snow may accumulate above 8,000 feet, with wet roads for those traveling over I-80 and US-50. Snow could impact travel over the Mt. Rose Highway and the higher passes in Alpine and Mono counties.
More rain is on tap for the valleys with total rainfall amounts up to 0.50 inch. Could be enough rain to cut back on watering your lawn this week, the weather service advises.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, expect showers Sunday and Monday, with daytime highs in the low 60s. There's about a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday and a chance for showers Wednesday.
