Nevada gaming revenues jump 16 percent in May

Statewide casino revenue from gaming jumped more than 16 percent for the month of May compared to the same time last year, the Nevada Gaming Control Board announced today.

Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $984,014,981 for the month of May 2011. This amounts to a 16.16 percent increase compared to May 2010, when licensees reported a gaming win of $847,136,303.

For the fiscal year (July 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011), gaming win has increased 1.94 percent.

While the Carson City and Carson Valley region saw a 2.1 percent decline for May, Stateline casinos at Lake Tahoe had a major bounce. Casinos at the South Shore of Lake Tahoe saw a revenue increase of 15 percent in May over May 2010 numbers, the gaming control board reports. North Lake Tahoe casinos saw a modest gain of 2.83 percent.

Statewide, Clark County, which includes the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Vegas casinos saw significant increases in May; while Washoe County, including the Reno area continued to see declines, with Reno gaming seeing a 7.7 percent decrease.
