A cold front will move through the Sierra and western Nevada late Monday night through Tuesday morning bringing strong winds and much colder temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Wind gusts in foothill locations may reach up to 70 mph. Strong winds will result in blowing dust, dangerous crosswinds for high profile vehicles, and air turbulence. Hazardous conditions are anticipated for Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake from Monday evening through Tuesday prompting a Lake Wind Advisory.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, expect daytime highs Monday in the high 60s to low 70s. Tuesday’s front will bring temperatures down, with daytime highs in the low 50s and lows in the upper 20s.
A warming trend begins Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.
