After a short break in between weather systems, weak low pressure moving across northern California and Nevada may bring more light precipitation to the region Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
For Sunday, scattered showers are expected to develop with a few thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. Snow will generally be limited to areas above 6,500-7,000 feet, with only localized light snow accumulations.
Around Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, there's a 30 percent chance for scattered showers Sunday and a 40 percent chance Sunday night. Highs Sunday will be near 60.
For Monday, colder air will spread south across western Nevada with scattered snow showers through the day. There is still a possibility for some light snow in lower elevations during the Monday morning commute. Light snow accumulations, up to 3 inches, may produce slick travel conditions Monday morning near the Sierra and in foothill locations above 5,500 feet, according to the weather service.
For Carson City, there's a 50 percent chance of rain and snow showers with a daytime high and a night time low of 31.
Tuesday should bring sunny skies again before the next system moves into the region, bringing a chance of rain showers.
