Just a few days left before the big day. Get your fill of holiday music as the Ninth Annual Christmas Carol Play-along for Strings returns to Carson Mall. Even if you don’t play an instrument, voices are more than welcome to contribute to the tunes. Wintertime is perfect for curling up with a good book, join the Library’s Winter Read-a-thon to win some great prizes. Carson Cigar Company is throwing a party featuring Ev ‘Cheese the Knife’ Musselman of the Tripping King Snakes: they’ve been selling raffle tickets to benefit Food for Thought, so head down to support this great charity.
THURSDAY:
- Winter Read-a-thon begins at the Carson City Library (pick up a reading log at the Library; runs through Jan. 2)
- Photographer Dean Burton’s exhibit “Calotypes” in the OXS Gallery at the Nevada Arts Council: 716 N. Carson St. (8am-5pm)
- ART from SNC, group show of art by Sierra Nevada College students in the Community Development building [formerly the BRIC]: 108 E Proctor St (8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm)

- Arlington Square Ice Rink (WEATHER PERMITTING; Sessions 3pm-5pm or 6pm-9pm; $7/$5 kids, $3 Skate Rental; Afterschool Special- $5 for Elementary and Middle School Kids includes skate rental and one hot beverage during first session)
- Muscle Powered Easy Hike: V & T North - Meet on Combs Canyon Rd at Murphy Drive (3pm-4:30pm; Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the hike meeting site. All walks require closed-toed shoes and water. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks, are recommended.)
