A spring storm will move into the Sierra and western Nevada tonight bringing gusty winds and chances for rain and Sierra snow through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Gusty winds will create rough boating conditions on area lakes this afternoon as well as turbulence for air travel. Strong southwest crosswinds with gusts to 35-45 mph on area roads, including Highways 50 and Highway 395 and and I-580 and I-80, may result in difficult driving for high profile vehicles.

High elevation passes in the northern Sierra may be snow covered Monday morning. Two-4 inches above 7,000 feet with light accumulations possible down to lake level. Light showers may linger in northern California and Nevada through Tuesday.

The stubborn ridge of high pressure returns to the region by Wednesday, with temperatures climbing into the mid 70s for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton by Friday and the possibility of afternoon thundershowers Saturday.
