A late season storm will bring windy conditions with periods of rain in Carson City and snow at Lake Tahoe through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers will develop Monday night north of Susanville and then drop south into Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley at around sunrise Tuesday and then further south into Mono County.
There's a potential for a couple inches of snow above 6,000 feet in the Sierra, Eastern California and far Western Nevada. Snow that falls overnight may accumulate on roads above 6,000 feet but then quickly melt after sunrise.
Travelers going over Sierra passes Monday night and early Tuesday morning should be prepared for winter driving conditions, slick roads and gusty winds of 30 mph to 40 mph across all of Western Nevada and the Sierra.
