The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch through 8 p.m. for much of Western Nevada, Carson City and Lake Tahoe region.
Moist and unstable conditions will allow showers and thunderstorms to develop this morning and continue through the evening hours. A few strong thunderstorms may develop and produce torrential rainfall. Those heading outdoors today should have a plan to quickly return to sheltered locations if a thunderstorm develops, according to the weather service.
The Flash Flood Watch area includes Carson City, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe area, Dayton, Silver Springs, Yerington, Fallon, Smith Valley, Virginia City. The Flash Flood Watch also continues for Alpine County and the Washington Fire burn area.
