Breezy conditions around Carson City will continue Friday while a weak weather system is expected to impact the northern part of the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
The quick moving weak storm won't carry significant moisture, but the timing is not ideal with light snow impacting travel over the northern Sierra passes. A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. The weather system isn't expected to produce much in the way of snow in the Tahoe Basin, according to the weather service.
Around Carson City, winds Friday afternoon are averaging around 18 mph with gusts to 32 mph, according to CarsonWeather.com.
Lassen and Plumas County mountain roads will have the best potential for accumulations, but a few inches is likely for Donner and Echo Passes. Monitor road conditions and be prepared for winter driving conditions if venturing into the mountains.
Aside from the breezy conditions Friday, temperatures around Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will warm up this weekend with highs in the low 50s Saturday and near 60 on Sunday. The forecast calls for sunny and dry conditions and a warm up into the low 60s through at least Thursday.
