More unsettled spring weather continues today with a strong Pacific jet stream expected to bring gusty winds to Carson City, Reno, Carson Valley and the Sierra.

Gusts of up to 70 mph are possible in some areas, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a wind advisory through 8 tonight.

The strongest winds are expected to pick up this afternoon along Highway 395, with areas of blowing dust through the central part of the state, according to the weather service and CarsonWeather.com. Winds will be from the southwest, 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Gusts of up to 70 mph are possible in wind prone areas.

Expect hazardous travel conditions, especially in high profile vehicles along Highway 50 and Highway 395 through Washoe Valley and Interstate 80.

Secure the lawn chairs, put a heavy brick on the trash can lid, bring in the small pets and go to www.CarsonWeather.com to track the latest wind speeds.
