A late season storm will bring snow to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra overnight into Saturday, with up to a foot above 7,000 feet, prompting the National Weather Service in Reno to issue a Winter Weather Advisory through 2 p.m. Saturday.
In Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, expect rain into the morning and Saturday afternoon, tapering to isolated showers Saturday night. In the Sierra, snow was expected to accumulate overnight tonight with 3 to 6 inches at lake level and more expected in the higher elevations. Snow level should be around 6,000 feet, according to the weather service.
The snow will create slick road conditions, along Highway 50 over Spooner and Echo Summit, State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade, Highway 88, Highway 89, Interstate 80, sState Route 267 and the Mount Rose Highway. The heaviest precipitation is expected to happen west of Highway 89, according to the weather service. Anglers looking to make it over the Sierra early Saturday for opening day of California stream and lake fishing should take note, carry chains, slow down and use caution.
