The newly renovated Farmers Bank building, located at 1597 Esmeralda Ave., in Minden will be open to the public from 3-6pm on Tuesday May 12, 2015. Tours of the building will be given in small groups so that people can ask questions and learn about the unique features of the building.

During this time, the summer kick off Minden Street Celebration event will be held on Esmeralda Ave., with food, music, vendors, and family friendly activities.

Ninety years ago this building was a signal of growth in Minden, and with its reopening it is once again a signal of prosperity for Carson Valley.

The award winning renovation of this building was carefully overseen by Christopher Bently, JP Copoulus Architects of Carson City, and NicholsBooth Architects of San Francisco. The Farmers Bank Building is applying for LEED Platinum certification, which would make it the sixth non-residential space in the Silver State to have attained the highest possible certification, and one of only a few historic buildings nationwide to have achieved the US Green Building Council’s highest certification. Featuring technologies like solar power and ground source heating, and interior designs that reuse building elements like the old vault doors and the historic teller windows, this old building is now a truly special part of Carson Valley.

As an embodiment of Bently's commitment to Minden, this office building will also serve as a public space. The front lobby, during business hours, will be left open. This space will tie together the past and future of Minden by showcasing old building artifacts and new sustainable technologies.

The new Farmers Bank Building is a significant part of Minden’s past and future, and we hope to see you there for its grand opening!
