With snow showers overnight leaving a dusting on Carson City streets, this morning's commute has been mostly free of problems.
Carson City road crews were out early this morning with sanders getting roads prepared. Dispatch reports no major accidents in Carson City, however Reno has been experiencing a number of wrecks and spinouts, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The National Weather Service advised in a weather statement that motorists should watch for black ice on the roadways, especially around overpasses and exits and freezing fog developing throughout Carson City into Carson Valley.
In the meantime, light snow will continues across the region this morning, with temperatures remaining below freezing. The next weather system will be a cold front from the north that could produce light snow showers this afternoon and evening.
Dry weather and sunny skies will return Tuesday and Wednesday, but temperatures will drop Wednesday night due a cold weather system from the north that may bring snow to the Sierra and Carson City again by Thursday.
