Another blast of winter weather is expected to reach the Carson City area tonight with 1 to 3 inches of snow expected in the valleys and up to 8 inches at Lake Tahoe.
Cold air, more snow and gusty winds has prompted the National Weather Service in Reno to issue a winter weather advisory later tonight for Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Reno through Thursday morning.
Snow will develop late tonight, after 11, and continue into Thursday morning with the heaviest periods of snow expected between 2 and 7 a.m., according to the weather service and CarsonWeather.com. Snow levels are forecasted to begin at 6,500 feet and then drop to the valley floor as the night wears on.
Expect crummy travel conditions to go along with the crappy weather as the snow is expected to make roads especially slick for morning commutes in Carson City and Reno. Gusty winds with the snow may cause visibility to be below a quarter-mile before sunrise, according to the weather service.
temperatures tonight may drop to around 25 degrees, with Thursday's high only around the freezing mark. Expect wind gust between 30 to 35 mph with occasional 50 mph gusts or more, according to the weather service.
