Charges have been amended involving the death of 2-month-old Ava Getty. Suspect Trent Getty has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Ava Getty, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday Jan. 10, 2015 Suspect Trent Getty, 23, was located in Sacramento, Calif. at a Greyhound Bus Depot and was taken into custody by the Sacramento Police Department.
On Tuesday, Jan. 13 he appeared before the Superior Court in Sacramento, California and waived extradition back to Nevada.
Getty was returned to Douglas County and booked into the Douglas County Jail on first degree murder charges and will appear in the East Fork Justice Court on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
Getty is currently being held without bail.
On Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 2:48 a.m., deputies responded to the Carson Valley Medical Center for a report of an unresponsive infant that was brought in by the infant's father, Getty.
During the subsequent investigation, Investigators developed information that the infant had suffered substantial injuries which appear to be the result of traumatic abuse and are inconsistent with the initial statement given by the father regarding how the injury occurred.
The two-month old baby girl infant was taken off life support early Saturday morning and Getty was located in Sacramento and taken into custody.
