A winter system is expected to drop into the Sierra and western Nevada Saturday night into Sunday bringing snow across the Lake Tahoe Basin, according to the National Weather Service.
This is a colder system and snow levels will quickly lower to valley floors by Sunday. Accumulating snow is likely in the Sierra with 6 inches or more possible above 7,000 feet and several inches elsewhere around Lake Tahoe.
In western Nevada, some snow accumulation is possible Sunday, but confidence is lower. Travel will likely be impacted Saturday night into Sunday, especially in the Sierra. The high temperature Saturday for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will be in the mid to upper 50s. But the temperatures will drop by Sunday, with a high of around 41 and low of 22 with a 60 percent chance of rain and snow.
