Winds will increase ahead of a strong cold front Wednesday night and Thursday that will bring temperatures down around Carson City with a chance of rain in the valleys and some high elevation snow in the Sierra possible, according to the National Weather Service.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, expect sunny skies Wednesday with a high in the low 60s. For Thursday, expect breezy conditions through the day with a slight chance of rain, about 20 percent. The evening will be cool with a low in the low 30s with a slight chance of rain and snow showers.
Friday will see sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 50s, with a significant warm up expected over the weekend as high pressure strengthens across the region. The increase in temperature is likely to result in increased snow melt and run off in mid-to-high elevations and increased flows in area streams and rivers.
