Hot weather with lightning is expected to continue again Sunday for much of Western Nevada and Sierra, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect through Sunday night as more thunderstorms and strong outflow winds are expected for much of the region, according to the weather service. The storms will begin dry, becoming a hybrid of wet and dry by Sunday night.
Like what happened early Saturday night, lightning may create new fire starts as it did around Douglas County. Combined with strong outflow winds, these strikes can produce rapid fire growth.
The forecast for this week remains hot, with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and a chance of thunderstorms daily through Friday for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, according to the weather service.
